Binghi Warriors

ska, rocksteady en reggae muziek / Nyabinghi

The Nyabinghi movement inspired a few Jamaican Rastas, who integrated the so called Nyabinghi chants (Binghi) in their celebrations (grounations).
The rhythms of those chants have influenced the popular ska, rocksteady and reggae music. Three different kind of drums are used in Nyabinghi music: Bas, Funde and Keteh. The Keteh plays an improvised syncopation rooted in Ashanti dancing and drum. The Funde plays regularly one-two beat and the big drum hits hard on the first beat and soft on the third (fourth) beat. Count Ossie was the first to integrate Nyabinghi music and contributed to the Rasta culture.

She makes easy listening songs in Spanish, English and Dutch, with philosophical or less philosophical lyrics, and she combines that with poetry, other instruments and improvisation. It’s a story about the things in life… as a troubadour. You can speak all the languages of the world, but music is and will be the language that everybody understands.

Gigi Arisci

Singer/Songwriter

At a young age he already knew what he wanted: the Italian singer-songwriter (cantautore) Gigi Arisci wanted to be a musician. As a kid he used to flee to the toilet to sing out loud, hoping that no one could hear him. Now, years later, his first album is a fact. And he want everybody to hear him.
Gigi’s music is inspired by different styles of music, but deep in his heart plays the blues. His lyrics are about life: about passion, about falling and rising again and, of course, about love.

Harry Loco

Songs with body and soul and good lyrics remind you of better times of the sixties

Recently Harry played with Freek de Jonge at ‘de Wereld Draait Door’ with a protest song about the gas drilling in Groningen.
Wherever he comes, he creates a positive vibe. Songs with body and soul and good lyrics remind you of better times of the sixties. Harry’s voice together with the beautiful sound of his Landola guitars (Finland) and screaming harmonica’s, sounds like Dylan in his best days.

Two musicians: Bram Veneman (percussion, vocal) and Glenn Bollen (guitar, leadvocals) met, like it suits musicians, in a café in 2009. Along the way, they got inspired outside the boundaries of the mainstream range and build up an electrical mixture of open tuned wooden instruments, with an electronical touch.

Roos Galjaard en Sebastiaan Wiering

Folk

De laatste, getiteld "As the sun will guide me home" kwam in december 2011 uit en kreeg lovende recensie, o.a. van Folkforum.

‘What I Am Looking For’ is de eerste officiële single van het duo.

Skelectief

Beautiful subtle sounds, lovely acoustic sessions, gritty sounds, growling instruments, raw rough ragged musical scenes: everything is possible..

Skelectief is a friendly group of about 15 artistic friends, born out of the love of making music together. In a various occupation we play improvised music on parties and festivals in such a way that it is hardly noticable that we play songs without rehearsing. The scenery, the atmosphere, the crowd… everything has a direct influence on what we play spontaneously. Beautiful subtle sounds, lovely acoustic sessions, gritty sounds, growling instruments, raw rough ragged musical scenes: everything is possible..

Slupp & Swamy

Klezmer, Sephardic, and belly dance music

Slupp & Swamy are a Swedish-Jewish violin player and a Canadian percussionist who live in the cultural melting pot of the Netherlands. Here they have fallen in love with and play traditional music that has its origin mainly in, and around, the south eastern part of Europe. They also play Klezmer, Sephardic, and belly dance music. After having played this music for some years, Astrid started composing her own songs, mostly in the musical spirit of these regions.
With four tuned darabukas Rupert combines the role of drummer with that of a bass player, and together with the violin they manage to create a full sound. As well as playing at parties, pubs and festivals, we also specialize in ceremonies, and accompany belly dance performances.

Svava

Dreampop

Lakes, fjords and vast landscapes; they are never far away if you listen to Sväna. The music is sometimes modest and dark, sometimes catchy & uptempo. The foursome stands out with their atmospheric songs, adorned with an impressive voice. Although Sväva means ‘floating’, the music is pure and dynamic. With this exciting contrast they know how to impress us. And they have showed this with performances at, for example, Noorderslag, MSDockville (Dl), LeGessWho? and during recent tours in Sweden and England.
